DESCRIPTION: Award winning bi-annual research laboratory for advanced and professional artists in New York City a space to interface and incubate with the critically acclaimed Sidra Bell Dance New York. The project invites them into the intimate creative culture of the company and asks them to commit to creative stakeholding. Laboratories are non-competitive spaces for sustained inquiry, rigor, and experimentation for movers of all backgrounds and curiosities. Artists have the opportunity to dialogue and research with the artistic director through 42 hours of laboratory work and dialogues to deepen their approach to the material and its unique methodology.

SUBJECT MATTER: method, phrasing, collective ear, creative modeling, patient practice, constructivism, deconstructivism, systems, coaching, modes, dialogue, ephemeral language, receptive points, process, macro/micro visioning, drafting, illustration, stakeholders, our work, circles of mentorship, multiple brains & awarenesses, inside & uncovering form, the unsaid, performance skins, failsafe, first person voice, remembering, 3 globes, undulating, looping, integrating, 13 hangs, 15 breaths, dismantling, recording, decoding, performing time, encountering, repeating, referring, inherency, creative communities, scoring, other bodies, futureforms, infinite research.

WINTER | MODULE22 FEES

SESSION 1 DATES: MONDAY-SUNDAY, JANUARY 17-23, 2022
MONDAY-SUNDAY 10AM-5PM DAILY (includes Streamed/Public Showing on Sunday)

*All daytime movement sessions are in person

*All afternoon/evening dialogues are remote


REQUIRED MATERIALS: Submit resume, headshot, video sample, required application fee of $20

*Video must demonstrate high level technique and improvisational skills. Acting experience is beneficial. Open to advanced and professional artists.​

*Limited Space (Due to Covid-19 NYS Restrictions)

DEADLINES/FEES (Session 1):
NOVEMBER 5, 2021: Application Materials with non-refundable application processing fee ($20)
NOVEMBER 12, 2021: Notification of Acceptance
NOVEMBER 19, 2021: 1st non-refundable deposit due ($250)
DECEMBER 17, 2021: 2nd deposit due ($250 balance)

2nd deposit non-refundable after JANUARY 1, 2022
Total: $500 + $20 Application Fee ($520)

 NOTE: Application fee & 1st deposit are non-refundable. 2nd deposit is non-refundable after JANUARY 1, 2022. Housing and transportation are not included. All fees must be submitted via PayPal below. 

COVID-19 GUIDELINES:

  • CPR-Center for Performance Research's Vaccination Policy:

For private rehearsals, CPR requires documentation of vaccination status of anyone entering the space. Anyone who is not fully-vaccinated (at least 14 days after final dose) must present a negative COVID test taken within 5 days of the rental (for a PCR test) or 2 days of the rental (for a rapid test).
For public events (open rehearsals, auditions, live performances, classes, and other events), CPR requires documentation showing all individuals to be fully vaccinated, including artists, collaborators, and audience members.

  • Masks must be worn at all times on site

  • Everyone must sanitize their hands upon entering the building, and take care to wash hands frequently

  • MODULE artists will adhere to social distancing rules and reducing high contact
    while in the studios, with bodies at least 6 feet apart at all times

  • Covid-19 Testing Required for Participation

  • Quarantining Required per NYS guidelines if Traveling from Non-Contiguous US State

  • MODULE artists will undergo a temperature check and wellness screening when entering CPR – Center for Performance Research. Anyone reading over 100.4°F will not be admitted. You must be able to answer “no” to questions on a daily Covid screening.

  • No visitors will be allowed
