On December 8, 2001 Sidra Bell Dance New York produced its first production in Harlem, NY to sold out audiences. The company was founded with the mission of creating interdisciplinary live performance and educational programming. Since its founding SBDNY, Inc has created innovative performance and educational platforms that have spanned the globe.

To celebrate our 20th Anniversary Year the company was presented as the Inaugural Artist in Residence at Gibney Dance Center to sold out audiences in October 2022. There we presented an evening of legacy works in the program IN | REP as well as a new installation RETURN TO FORM. This first iteration of RETURN TO FORM allowed audiences to directly experience ephemeral objects pivotal to the company’s history. Featuring videos, artist books, garments, and a photo collage, this exhibition overviews methodology, process, and performance. The celebration marked a return to New York City stages. We hope you will consider making a tax-deductible as we move into the creation of new work in 2023 as well as continued programming of our award winning MODULE Laboratory. We are deeply grateful for your ongoing support of our work. We hope you will participate in the closing of our 20th year celebrations and consider us in your year-end giving.

Our goal is $5000 by December 31. We have the opportunity to receive matching funding from ArtsWestchester for donations received by December 15. The Art$WChallenge matching grant is opportunity for recent grantees to boost their operating income by attracting new contributions. Support from Westchester County Executive and the Board of Legislators enables ArtsWestchester to match new or increased money raised from now through December 15.
